Re: Is there any example about writing Python extension with FBC?

I will try writing a toy PHP extension using FBC, too. I hope I could do it and showcase here. No promise, though.

Is there any example about writing Python extension with FBC?

I wanted to try writing a toy extension for Python in FBC. The point is just to prove it's possible or not. If no one ever think about it then my work will be much more difficult :)

Unfortunately I'm on Linux. Could you put more love on the Linux target?

Re: Gas64 (no more use of gcc, only gas) WDS / LNX

I hope this backend could be extended to support Linux and FreeBSD, so FBC no longer depends on GCC. But keep it in mind, FreeBSD's AS tool is not compatible with GAS. So one still has to install the binutils packages in order to use this backend. You should put this clear if you ever want to suppor...

Re: FreeBasic IDE-poseidonFB(Update 2020.07.20)

Could you include the FBC compiler in your AppImage version so one don't have to setup a separate FBC but could just use your AppImage as a development suite, like WinFBE on Windows?

Could your code be compiled with GDC or LDC? Or is it hard depend on DMD? What do you think about a FreeBSD version?

What about more data structures? Before your library, I tried to use klib with FreeBASIC but always failed:

Re: I divorced with OpenIndiana

FreeBASIC does not depend on libICU in any way. I found the same thing when building FBC, too. So how does FBC deal with unicode support? The only things I found so far are: https://www.freebasic.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=26856 https://www.freebasic.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=29169

UPDATE: ICU version 66.1 This update is ABI-incompatible , make sure to recompile any local application against the new libraries. https://twitter.com/OpenIndiana/status/1267951709562814466 I left because of the stupid memory model of that OS, nothing to do with the thing you mentioned. I always on...

Re: Is possible to link with a DEF file?

You could create a .a import library (not to be confused with static library, also .a extension) directly from the dll itself or from .def file. I don't remember the details as I left Windows too long but MinGW does have the tools needed to do so. Normally, you should link with the .a import library...

Re: Anyone able to use this with FreeBASIC?

Having said all this, FB's OOP model is very simple, but effective. What parts of it are you having a hard time grasping? OOP is the future for anyone seek for an replacement to VB.NET like me (VB.NET, not VB6). I'm stucking on Property. If it's used to replace getters/setters then why sometimes I ...

Not tried. I'm currently locked on FreeBSD and only come back to Linux in the next month. Only on Linux I have VirtualBox to run Windows guests.

Re: Anyone able to use this with FreeBASIC?

Why do you need to grasp its OOP part? FB is a multi-paradigm language that makes traditional procedural programming quite easy. None of code or issues in this topic have any OOP in them. OOP is simply not always required[1]. FB is a strongly, statically-typed language, similar to C or Pascal, so a...

Do you guys planned to support Linux? China has a good Linux distro called Deepin, and the official backed by the CCP is Ubuntu Kylin, isn't it? WPS Office is great on Linux. I never tried both of these Linux but their reviews sound good. Deepin to be a bit unstable, though. I used WPS Office on my ...

This also means the Solaris port will be unmaintained, unless the fbc developers continue working on it.
