Re: Cheat prevetion for Ubytes

@Pritchard That would send a message that the style of the opening post was perfectly acceptable. I'm not saying anything about the opening post. Just your own behaviors. It is worth noting that nobody else has 'had a go' at me suggesting a silent agreement with what I wrote. This forum has like 5 ...

Re: Cheat prevetion for Ubytes

I don't think we can afford to be rude to contributors at this point. I would normally favour a diplomatic approach but sometimes a short, sharp shock is the better tack. Okay, so since you like a sharp shock, how about this? If I was a mod, comments that don't actually contribute toward threads an...

Re: Cheat prevetion for Ubytes

@mrminecrafttnt If I had my way I would delete your post and send you a message advising that this is a peer support forum and not a source code repository. I would then say that if any code was posted again without any explanation then it also would be deleted only no message would be sent on that...

Re: Sourceforge vs. GetHub Hosting

We use BitBucket for work. I'm assuming because it's from Atlassian and we use their project management software (JIRA) to log time and do billing.

Re: Thoughts on moving things to Reddit?

What he means by "paying for it with our data" is that the very content we post to reddit and the information attached to that (user data) is sold to pay for the site and make a profit. Anything that big data can glean and attach value to is used. In short when you use reddit, you and you...

Re: Thoughts on moving things to Reddit?

Hi Pritchard. As said above, for some reasons Reddit tends not to display well. For me there is most of time a delay with a face or something. And I hardly can go further. It's a shame because the stuff hosted there is often of great interest. Don't you get this experience from your side? Oh, the e...

Thoughts on moving things to Reddit?

I appreciate us having our own site, and I realize Reddit isn't quite the same, but... isn't it? Full of features as well... Wouldn't have to rely on someone to host the site. Reddit is free.

Re: C-like for() statement using macros

Excuse the formatting. I'm using https://www.jdoodle.com/execute-freebasic-online to write and test this with. I'd consider 6 levels deep sufficient for most programs. If you're using this to assist with automated conversions, I would consider it... #macro CFOR(start, cond, step) #ifndef CNEXT_ #macro...

Re: Compiled reality

Compilers are best at optimizing individual functions, and sometimes good at optimizing their immediate context. Compiler authors aim to make optimizations that are as close as possible to theoretically, deterministically proven not to cause harm. They don't always succeed. Sometimes, compilers will...

Re: Compiled reality

Yes, warnings... compiler flags can actually alter behavior of code. Very frustrating for professional developers. I know very good programmers who write very large programs and run into this sort of issue in production environments. I am of the belief that a compiler should never alter the results ...

Re: What is machine learning?

Our team just won a local civic hackathon for the government using machine learning. Microsoft has some good chatbot technologies that have pre-loaded with algorithms and data sets and can train against your conversational workflows. It's pretty cool stuff. As far as I'm aware, it's really fancy sta...

Everything has a Discord these days. It's about as close to objectively better as you can get for more purposes. I agree with this move :)
