FreeBASIC Compiler - Version 1.10.1 (2023-12-24), built for linux-x86_64 (64bit)
I downloaded visualfbeditor_1.3.5-ualinux_amd64.deb

When I try to install the .deb I get:
Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: freebasic

Assuming you have enough RAM installed, I suggest VM Player (free from VMWare) and run various operating systems in a virtual PC.

Will there be an "official" toolkit and IDE? There are some independently created ones out there now.

By the way, MS says the story isn't true and they will NOT be opening up the source for VB6.

Though I also know next to nothing about "ASM", it seems there are several different versions with different syntax floating around out there: MASM32, NASM, FASM and the GNU assembler. There are communities and forums related to each. Some even have RAD IDEs for making MS-Windows programs....
