Re: What is wrong with the BASIC language?
ref What is wrong with the BASIC language? Q What is wrong with ALL programing languages ? None of them are designed with common sense in mind ! , Ive not seen a single language that even comes close to close to being 'fit for human consumption' ...the chasm between what we should have as a program...

Re: Progamming in UK Schools
We are living in a stupendously complex society. Humans haven't got much smarter , education helps a bit, but the societies we live in are exponentially more complex than were capable of understanding. Today, students brains are split many ways, smart phones, social media websites, digital cameras,...

Re: Progamming in UK Schools
ref insuring a program does the job properly Amen to that, user interface design is critical here. A great coder is not much use to their fellow man unless the user interface is up to the job. That goes way past 'bug free' , 'wally proofing' and WYSIWYG design Why am i still using XP ? ...it works A...

The Perfect Education ? Have given this considerable thought, the answer is rather simple Start teaching stone age skills at infant school and as the child ages , start teaching them more and more advanced technologies. Thus in their last year or so of school they are taught futurism and bleeding e...

Maslow pyramid , order of human needs. Security is close to the base. Information = power , so things are going to get a bit tricky for all parties, governments and reclusive individuals. Ultimately we will need a whole new raft of legislation, ie physical and intellectual safeguards as the 'natura...

Re: Algorithm to detect duplicate videos ?
Must add, Google Optical Flow with this method you could pick out two similar videos even if one was in black and white, played backwards, mirrored and at a jaunty angle and quite possibly via a fish eye lens too !...our brains use multiple algorithms which are dynamically assigned priorities accord...

Re: Algorithm to detect duplicate videos ?
one method i would be tempted to use is too simply look at 'the rate' that the data changes over time think of it as a kind of 'beat detection' , almost every video will have a unique 'data beat' even when examined roughly There are 101 variables which will defeat any narrow thru the keyhole type sa...

Re: Progamming in UK Schools
Human beings have the wrong kind of mind to write computer programs. Thus it does help if you have simple 'common sense' words like print at least when you are learning.. But you have to be careful as words and meanings have fuzzy boundaries. Print to screen vs write to screen vs ? vs something els...

Re: Progamming in UK Schools
