Re: mingw_stdio example

True caseih, but I can also use cdecl to substitute extern "c", which I don't see mentioned in the help file. If I call a function from a c dll (not necessarily msvcrt.dll) I find it a bit hit and miss. I start with #inclib "something" I try extern "c", and cdecl. or sk...

Re: Squares

If a spherical droplet of water falls on a flat lake, and no one is there to hear it, does it make a noise? https://researchonline.jcu.edu.au/2065/2/02Chapters1-2.pdf If it a physics question then yes. Sound is a branch of physics and the laws of physics apply everywhere (So they say). Noise is ind...

Thanks knatterton, I'll experiment with these new (to me) procedures.

Re: Pulsar2D

If you get it working you can try this. (It is an easy library to use) #include once "pulsar/pulsar2d.bi" Using p2d Type pt As Long x,y End Type #define mx mousex #define my mousey #define onscreen (mx>0) and (mx<xres) and (my>0) and (my<yres) #define incircle(cx,cy,radius,x,y) (cx-x)*(cx-...

Re: Pulsar2D

I tried this. got sdl2.dll, sdl2_image.dll, sdl2_mixer.dll. I put these three dll's and the seven .bi files and the four .bas examples and the media folder all into one test folder. I got the Mandelbrot.bas and the fonttest.bas and the spriteexample.bas to work. small hiccup with the particles.bas w...

Re: Pulsar2D

You will need to get sdl2.dll maybe here https://www.dll-files.com/sdl2.dll.html Put all the .bi files and this .dll and any examples.bas files into one folder. If you get a runner with this this then you can think about creating an import file (via dlltool.exe) libsdl2.dll.a, putting it into the fr...

This is an important day on planet earth, the solstice.
It is an astronomical maximum which affects every species, especially the druids who, after witnessing sunrise at Stonehenge this morning, will now be guzzling gallons of beer.

Re: Squares

Cavitation on propellers (at sea say) is due to the pressure being reduced behind a blade to such an extent that the water boils at the blade surface at sea temperature. They are not bubbles of air, but water vapour. Same with boiling at 100 degrees in a pot, water vapour bubbles appear. For things ...

Re: FBC's Cairo clock example error

Badidea The linear kinetic energy is zeroed then summed for every loop Ke+=.5*m*v^2 It just accumulates for each ball per loop. It is very nearly constant, fluctuating 1 to 3 parts in about 78402. Main thing, it doesn't fizzle away or get bigger and bigger (runaway). The linear maths are OK. The ang...

IMO
Have non striped as default.
User can strip his/her final .exe with a switch (-s) or something.
Please keep the strip switch lower case (For fbide, which is still the popular ide)

Re: FBC's Cairo clock example error

Tried rotating fonts. I am going by results of google search for this, but the rotations seem very cpu hungry. Perhaps there is a better way. #include once "cairo/cairo.bi" #define _rd_ Cast(Ubyte Ptr,@colour)[2]/255 #define _gr_ Cast(Ubyte Ptr,@colour)[1]/255 #define _bl_ Cast(Ubyte Ptr,@...

Re: Atom Breakout

Thanks verybadidea, got your game. Looks very cool with the impact reverberations. If you use cairo then I reckon about ten forum members will be able to run it on windows. If you use spin then it is quantum pong breakout. If then you use static and dynamic friction with rotational inertia it will b...
