Re: Serial port lockups with FB1.01.0-win32

Thank you all for your input. I will give the newest compiler version a try. Sounds like this will solve the problem. To address some of the other comments: Get vs Input. I will read about and play around with Get, and see if it can help me out in any way. Threads. I wrote this program several years...

Re: Serial port lockups with FB1.01.0-win32

Okay, I cut and pasted minimal snippets and created this test. Connect your loopback, then whatever you type, comes right back to you. Locks up when compiled with 1.01.0, works fine when compiled with previous versions. DIM SHARED AS INTEGER TERMINATE TERMINATE = 0 'WHEN THIS GOES 1, EVERYTHING STOP...

Re: MyTerminal prog

I copied your code for a quick test of some serial connections.. but it didn't work as well I had hoped, so I spent some time making a few [okay, a lot of] changes to get things to work as I expected. I'm posting what I ended up with in case you want to take a look at some of the changes or correcti...

Serial port lockups with FB1.01.0-win32

I spent the day trying to figure out why a program stopped working after all these years... I made a little change, recompiled, and the program was broken. Undid my changes, recompiled, and still broken! After much testing with small test programs (that failed), all I could see that was different wa...

Re: Screenlock causing serial port error?

I did more testing with the above program. First, it appears this program works perfectly when compiled for windows. And with a little tweaking, the large program works fine under windows also. Back to the Dos version... I thought the problem was with screenlock... because when it is removed, things...

Graphics commands causing serial data errors?

I have an ongoing problem that I have tried to tackle this last week. I've somewhat narrowed the problem down, but am not entirely sure what the ultimate culprit is. I stripped down my program and came up with this test program. It constantly reads data from the serial port, and graphs one of the pi...

Solved.

Okay. A few different computers and OSes and here's what I've found. Running pure dos [6.22] with the CWSDPMI doesn't seem to let the serial port work correctly. Running inside a windows dos box, serial runs very slow (windows time sharing?). If I boot to windows 95 command prompt only, the serial p...

This afternoon/evening I read all about the timer issues, and used the hrtimer routine from these message boards and now I can properly see time going by... so now I can confirm my problem has to do with the serial communication . Sometimes I get hung on output, sometimes hung on input. I've fiddled...

serial port issue

Hi all! I love FreeBasic! I've written several little apps, and they all work great under XP or 2000. But I spent all of last week trying to get a new program to work under DOS. I installed Win95 to see what would happen, and it works better, but still not well. I've got a program that continually t...
