Re: CIRCLE unclear?

Hi, I want to automatize the creation of the graphic screen first, so that it spawns correctly (depending on the user desktop) at any time when the program meets the first graphic function to render. This mode is then kept alive as current screen and wont be resized. This first thing is not solved s...

Re: Slightly unpredicatable spacing with Print coma ?

Re: Slightly unpredicatable spacing with Print coma ?

..... A new-line character is printed after the values in the expression list unless the expression list is followed by a comma or semicolon . To avoid carriage return, put a semicolon at the end of the expression list. Ok, when reading this I had first understood that it was the case where some te...

Re: Slightly unpredicatable spacing with Print coma ?

Compared with the current position of cursor, comma pushes the cursor position at the first available tab position (among the 6 above) by incrementing the current cursor position at least by 1. Fxm, very surprinsingly, it's absolutely true ! This code shows that the 2 first numbers can sit just one...

Slightly unpredicatable spacing with Print coma ?

Hi, From the documentation : Print Writes text to the screen (...) A comma indicates printing should take place at the next 14 column boundary (...) Running the code below gives me : 12 then 14 spaces between the texts. In another case it was 13 and 14 (changing the Y in the locate). Variable anyway...

Re: CIRCLE unclear?

Hello grindstone. Let me answer first to what has been relevantly enumerated. 1) How should the compiler know which size of the window would be suitable for your purposes? You're right this is not the job of a general purpose compiler. Whatever, why not a library made for allow this kind of usage? J...

Re: Difference between Any and Object ?

Hello Vince, you were good enought to bend on my questionning, wich for I've to tell you a big thank . Whatever, I have to tell you exactly what I want to do. It's rather general, I want to build an array that can contain any object type. What I mean by object is only a container. For that I was won...

Re: CIRCLE unclear?

Badidea, I'm aware of the backward compatibility affair. It is related to a golden age of basic programming that is a quite valuable subject. Believe it or not but I'm myself involved in a tiny project dealing with reviving some old text games on the c64 platform. And I wish I would have been able t...

Difference between Any(Ptr) and Object ?

Hello people. It can sound dumb but for me Any Ptr is the same thing as Object. I've been using visual basic much more than any other language, that's why, first, I don't understand well pointers, and, secondly, I tend to considere the Object type as a reference type, or a pointer(?) More concretely...

Re: CIRCLE unclear?

Thank you again man. As said before, I didn't find this info in the doc, and it's less obvious than it seems to be. The console or Screen 12 for example, that looks the same after all. Allow me to add this remark about all those screen modes. Not that they're not useful, but I've often felt that a g...

Re: Do fb compiler know join multiple parts of a file?

(...) fbc -s console E:\SomeJobpart1.bas E:\SomeJobpart2.bas E:\SomeJobpart3.bas fbc will join the source files in the order they are mentioned in the command line. Regards grindstone Invaluable tip. Thanks a lot. fbc *.bas It is less selective than previous example. Interesting anyway. I still hav...

Do fb compiler know join multiple parts of a file?

Hello, This problem is really easy to understand. It would maybe be related to something like writting partial class in visual basic, but I'm not sure about that. I want to be able to split any FB file, .bas or .bi, in many parts for clarity purpose, and I'm waiting the fb to be able to join the dif...

CIRCLE unclear?

Hello, First, sorry if I'm not in the good place. It is about a tiny remark about Circle command. What is unclear from my beginner point of view, is that the command won't work in console mode. I've to tell you that the simple fact not to see this information printed in the doc doesn't allow me to b...
