Re: FreeBasic IDE-poseidonFB(Update 2018.12.09)

Thanks Kuan The problem is related to the crash. This error comes up trying to open the project: "/home/les/Downloads/Poseiden/Golf" had lost setting xml file! So there is something missing and the project won't open. What xml file is it talking about? EDIT: I figured it out. It is looking...

Re: WinFBE Editor and FreeBASIC Compiler (All-in-One Package) (Updated December 9, 2018)

I haven't been able to use your IDE since I switched to Ubuntu. I get why its a huge issue to change the scintilla editor behaviors. Therefore this is not a feature request but more like a wouldn't it be nice if... It seems so obvious to me to allow the user to set fold points (in addition to automa...

NoteBrowser - a guitar players aide

I am working on a project that is at a stage which can be shown. It is called NoteBrowser and it is intended to be an aide to finding notes and scales on a guitar fretboard. It is still early in development so there isn't much to it yet. You can find it here on Github Read the readme file there for ...

Re: ABSTRACT doesn't allow type aliases?

Said differently, I would like to call the Default prop like this: uuu() . In the code above I can write uuuSelf() instead. This is called a default property and has been a part of VB from very early on. You can replicate this using cast and let operators except as shown in your code where there is...

Re: VCS: private repositories for free on GitHub

That is great news.
I was fearing that MS would wreck github, but this is an improvement for sure.

Re: Array as overlay

@grindstone That code does not work on 64bit machines. If it works on 32bit, how do you get from a(x) back to a string? @dodicat I don't think that is what juergen kuehiwein is wanting. It seems you are simply copying two arrays. If I am not mistaken he wants something that can take the string conta...

Re: Select Case

Where are you getting a QB that works with that code? I cannot find any documented select case that incorporates a comma separated expression. In FB the case expression can be comma separated. So how would the comma separated select expression even work dim x = 12, y = 1 Select Case x Case 1, 2, 3, ...

Undocumented function

I was searching around for some specific code and came across this thread In it chaos presets a function using a FB function called fb_StrAllocTempDescF Here is the posted use of it (by chaos a little later in the thread): Function Cva (File() As uByte, ByVal Length As Integer = -1, ByVal Start As I...

Re: How to push object to stack without loosing reference

In the draw function these lines create a copy of the member of the stack. They do not give you access to the member. So when oPT goes out of scope any amount of oPT.Life -= 1 has no affect on the stored member. You can see that the 'if' line never resolves to true. You need to change to a pointer. ...

Re: Can I pass an Array as a sub Parameter?

Note that array parameters are always ByRef and the ByRef keyword is neither required nor allowed for array parameters. When calling a function with an array argument the parenthesis must be supplied there too; see the examples.

From here.

Re: GTK and EVENTS

I know very little to nothing about GTK, so take this as a stab in the dark. I think it is because the event is already over before it gets to your sub. If you move the code into the button handler then it returns a value. Sub EVENTS_BUTTON() dim as GDKEvent ptr ev ev = gtk_get_current_event () ?&qu...

Re: Select Case operating like the C 'switch'

@linuxbob: It would be great to see sample code of what you want the select case to behave like switch for. I am certain that there will be a better method. In any case I wanted to join in the fun and here is a type that accomplishes the task, but it seems to me to be going the hard way around. '---...
