Re: FBEdit Fork needs new name

That "+" (plus) sign in the logo looks an awful lot like a "Red Cross" to me ----according to the Australian Red Cross-------- "The red cross emblem is not a logo nor a trademark. Rather, as the universal emblem of protection in armed conflict, its use is restricted under in...

Re: Links on Forum header to main FB website

Bump! I wasn't suggesting the wiki itself be modified, I meant it would be convenient if the wiki (or the freebasic.net homepage which then leads to the wiki) was just one click away from the forum. Often in posts in the beginner forum a suggestion is made to "go look in the wiki" or some ...

Re: Dir Basics

I'm an "aged" novice, and I might be wrong, but.............. I think a "sub" has to be in the current main body of source code, and therefore you just call it by name. #include however calls outside source code, in another file, hence the .bi extension (I think .bi is short for ...

Re: Anti Virus Opinions Please

Some good food for thought there, thanks team. Its a difficult subject, full of jargon and mistrust. For instance, I tried stopping cookies once, and almost all my web based business ceased----good idea in theory, but impractical to implement. Then I tried the option of asking permission to allow co...

Anti Virus Opinions Please

I have used Norton for years and I am sick of it for two reasons---(a) it costs $$ and (b) my Laptop runs like a dog and the HD activity LED seems to be on a hell of a lot of the time. Not so long ago I got one of those little netbooks and it came with Trend.....seems to behave OK and is certainly l...

Hmmm, very interesting. There is a weird little twist where the ends of the tubes appear to meet.

Links on Forum header to main FB website

Can I suggest that a link be placed at the top of these Forum pages that takes us to freebasic.net (or "Home"), and maybe even shortcuts to Wiki, downloads, tutorials etc. Maybe if the documentation was more obvious and readily "clickable" we could improve the overall level of kn...

Re: Game Programming Tutorials

Sorry to appear cynical but............. Have you tried to use the search function on this Forum.......Search for "tutorial" gets 1471 hits and "game tutorial" gets 188 hits. These hits are obviously not all tutorials, but they will lead you in the right direction. (probably now ...

Re: Opengl clock ~ screensaver - Windows

Yes, I see the same reduction from around 17-18% to 1% or so.

By the way, may be silly question, but what is the grey circle with x in the centre under the 12 meant to be?

Re: Variable in only one sub

I'm no expert at all, but if its speed you are after, why not have three constants, one for each of the A/D gains, then the user selects and depending on which selection is made, the appropriate constant is used. If the selection is done at the start of the code (not in a loop), other than at startu...

Re: Which operating system?

I use XP nearly all the time, but needed Linux a while back to run some freeware application. Like Kiyotewolf, I created a UBUNTU Boot CD. It was fairly easy. You end with effectively a "dual boot" system. Regarding the word processor/spreadsheet, its hard to go past Open Office. Apart fro...

That is a nice Galaxy Albert.

Is it possible to tilt it slightly so the orbits can be seen?
