Re: Possible to pass a single column of an array to a function?

Tested a couple of things and it looks like it could be done, but I wouldn't like getting it all working correctly, and I would *NEVER* want to try and maintain it. Just went old-school: If they give me a multi-dimension array, I'll just create a temp single-dimension array for each part that I need...

Re: Possible to pass a single column of an array to a function?

. sancho3's code points me in the right direction... In his example, f_ary[3] is the same as ary(0,3)... ( because FB is row-major order )... since sancho3 passed @ary(0,0) as the starting point... +3 from there = row 0, column 3. So, if I passed @ary(0,4) as the starting point (PTR to column 4)... ...

Re: Possible to pass a single column of an array to a function?

.
But "f_ary(3,index) = x" is the problem. That won't handle a single dimension array. That's why I want to be able to pass a single column of a multidimensional array - so the code can handle either situation.

Possible to pass a single column of an array to a function?

. Is it possible to pass a single column of a multidimensional array to a function - have the function operate on that as it would on any single dimension array - and see the results in the multidimensional array ? I have a function that I would like it to be able to handle both, single dimension ar...

Re: "redefinition of struct" error when compiling for Win64

Ah! Mr Swiss... I can see that the 4 byte vs. 5 byte alignment in the union is *wrong* and I need to fix that. But fixing that did not fix the error. Also, everything in my program was working fine until I added the second SCOPE block. So, does that point out a possible problem with SCOPE blocks - o...

Re: WinFBE FreeBASIC Editor for Windows (Updated April 19, 2018)

. Thanks Paul... btw... When I'm using the dryer in the house I code everything as functions for the same reason as you. But when I'm hanging my laundry outside to dry, I go ahead and use subs so that I don't have to comment each of those functions with "this return value is unused" for ot...

Re: WinFBE FreeBASIC Editor for Windows (Updated April 19, 2018)

Paul, do you dislike subroutines (vs. functions)? [smile]

I just had occasion to pull up WinFBE [function list]... and it is exactly what you say... a "function list"... no subroutines show up.

Is that on purpose for some reason?

I had no idea what combination of the 1000 fbc.exe command line options to use that would get me that kind of performance improvement.
