The reason for that is it makes it easier to line up a sprite to move between tiles.

Re: Another freebasic miner

Yes I meant a map editor. I also wrote a simple tile editor and sprite animation editor. However they are only as good as your art and animation skills. A game engine lays the software framework to build and create video games. They provide features from animation to artificial intelligence. Game en...

Re: Another freebasic miner

It appears that with the purchase you get "ready-to-use App and Game Templates and something about being able to reskin an app? Maybe the graphics were for the Treasure Miner game and are just being given out. Longer example, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFC0Q1pxeBg This seems similiar with ...

Re: Another freebasic miner

So how is it going so far? Makes sense to use other people's images when artistically challenged as you can always change them later without changing the code. The images can make a big difference. I duplicated some of the coding of the Wonderboy game. When I used the image data from the real game i...

Re: C++ to FB

It might be worth remembering that a C++ for() loop does not increment the loop counter itself. That's what the 3rd term is for. You can do an infinite loop with for(;;). It's basically a fancy syntax for a type of while loop. Ok thanks for that. My limited knowledge of C++ has faded over years of ...

Re: OpenCV to capture an image with a webcam?

Where did you type locate vlc.bi ?
All I can find in my FreeBasic folder is fbc_linux_armv7a_hf_debian
The bin, doc, inlcude and lib folders seem empty.
The vlc.bi is in the Windows version of FreeBasic.

Re: OpenCV to capture an image with a webcam?

Sorry brain glitch!! I had been trying to compile it on windows10. It has been some time since I last ran a FreeBASIC program on the RPi and my knowledge and experience with Linux has been very limited. The example code and vlc download stuff was on a ram stick. The Linux directory system is a littl...

Re: OpenCV to capture an image with a webcam?

Downloaded the folder from SourceForge into my FreeBASIC folder. Ran Joshy's example but it failed. Looks like I have some google exploring to do or just forget about using FreeBasic with Linux and just using Processing or Python which is well supported in this area. Command executed: "C:\FreeB...

OpenCV to capture an image with a webcam?

Is it possible to use OpenCV to capture webcam images for use in a FreeBASIC program?
At the moment I am using escapi.bi and escapi.dll but they are window's dependent and I would like to do the same with the Linux os.

Re: Suddenly FB executables are detected as Trojans

Well I am 71 now, admittedly retired with free time, but Linux seems quite easy to learn, after all it is an OS and surely that is the fundamental theory of computing, OS's should be easy to use. It depends I guess on what you want to do on the computer. All your Windows depended FB programs will n...

@dodicat,
I share your sentiments. MrSwiss has been an asset for me with regards to using FreeBasic and I also hope he stays around.
