Re: Forum search

Admin, I find it really frustrating that the Search command can no longer apply to the content of the "quote" and "code" blocks. If we want to leave the possibility to include or exclude these types of blocks from the Search command, I would suggest the following evolution: Repl...

Re: Wiki improvements

do you "think in french", then translate to english? or are you mostly thinking in english when contemplating freebasic literature? In my professional career, I worked for more than 40 years in the military technical field (air defense radar) in a large French company that I would not nam...

Re: Using "PRINT #" and "INPUT ()" on binary files

Ok, found it... in the original Quick Basic help file: INPUT$ Function Details Syntax INPUT$(n[,[#]filenumber]) The n is the number of characters (bytes) to read from the file. The filenumber is the number used to open the file. If the file is opened for random access, the argument n must be less t...

Re: Using "PRINT #" and "INPUT ()" on binary files

Normally Get#/Put# should be used with Open For Binary, and [Line] Input#/Input()/Print# with textual Open For Input/Output. I already noticed that binary access mode is also compatible with Print#, [Line] Input # and Input() (https://www.freebasic.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=218697#p218697). But this...

Re: Return pointer to an array from a function

A variant to my previous workaround code: A single array, dynamic (to be able to free the allocated memory for its elements), within a single static UDT instance defined in a function returning a reference to this instance. type UDTarray dim as double arr(any) end type function returnArr() byref as ...

Re: A bug with select case as const (interleaved)

However, the size of the range of values is limited, and after converting the values to the uinteger type, the largest value in the range may be no higher than the smallest value + 8191 (current implementation).

Re: Return pointer to an array from a function

In your code, "Static" is useless. It shows that DIM isn't the only declare statement for an array ! Of course the array isn't read only name it an unknown bug but not useless :-) Joshy To be more precise, I meant that it is not worth declaring a global array (with 'Static'), but declare ...

Re: What is full form of DIM

For me, "DIM" comes from "dimension" and it is not the shortcut of an existing keyword.
