Hash idea would be a nightmare: FB lets you allocate an array for a sprite and then let it go out of scope without explicitly deallocating it, so Gfxlib would never know when to let go of the associated texture without some kind of garbage collection. There's still room in the sprite format - the bp...

Re: GTK OGUIC Driver Project

I was wondering if there are any members on the FreeBasic forum that would like to help me convert the C source to FreeBasic as a DLL. It doesn't look like a major job but I'm not a C programmer either. The C source for what? FFI? I have Gentoo with gcc 3.4.4 and glibc 2.3.6, I don't know if someth...

You could use the same rendering engine that Netscape, Firefox, and Mozilla use, Gecko.

There's also gtkhtml, but I don't know if that only a Gnome thing, or something that also works on Windows.

I have an Athlon XP 3200, is there some way you could compile/test on my computer remotely?

Are there situations where it's actually useful to implicitly treat a number as pointer?

Like if a function accepts a pointer that can be set to zero (null pointer).

Nope they didn't. I never had libtermcap before, and older versions of FB ran (but I never could see box drawing characters in text mode).

Same problem here. On Gentoo Linux, ncurses doesn't install libtermcap. If I create a symlink: cd /usr/lib/ ln -s libncursesw.a libtermcap.a Then FB apps will compile and run, but with the wrong character set (no box drawing characters, etc) in every console I've tried (konsole, gnome-terminal, xter...

Re: 0.15b release

Also, does the Windows installation program make any registry entries? What exactly does the installer program do other than make a directory and copy files???? It compiles some libraries - all those *.a files in FreeBASIC/lib/win32 No registry entries as far as I know. I guess a zip could come wit...

Absolutely! Right now a lot of the good demos, examples, etc with source code are hidden in forums. It would be really nice to have a catagorized archive.

I think sites like that helped bring people into the QB community (at least as much as forums did) and it could do the same for FB.
