Second guess would be to try writing to a second screen and page flip the video instead of writing to a buffer and then put-ing the entire video at once. How would I do that? yetifoot: it's a bit smoother, but still a bit choppy. I noticed you used fbgfx. What functions are included with the fb gra...

well, it might be my code, so here it is. let me know if i'm being inificient. The map is one large bmp as you'll notice(taken temporarily from raiden 1 until i draw my own), and split up in tiles as wide as the map, and (screen height \ 10) high. I'll be gone all day, so i won't reply till later to...

Voltage: No, that didn't work. Thanks though. I tried placing the delay at different places in the loop, like before/after the vsync, at the beginning, but didn't work. I know, asking to stop the os is a big task.

smooth graphics without interference...

I've already posted a question similar to this but I'm asking again for more feedback. I'm playing some vertical shooters from the MAME emulator and notice that it can produce perfectly smooth scrolling without any interference from windows, sorta like if you were to run the game in dos. My vertical...

GETing into a multi-dim array...

Suppose I clip tiles from one large bmp. Is there a way I can store them into a multi-dimentional array like this: 'let's say I have 30 10x10 tiles to store DIM Tiles(30, (10 * 10) + 4) AS UBYTE GET BMP_Image, (x1, y1)-(x2, y2), Tiles(0, 0) 'tile 1 GET BMP_Ima...

well, I took the index off, but it's still because there's something wrong with the way I'm sending VPage, which is a pointer to VPageArray.

sorry, to explain what I'm doing, this is a routine that automatically creates a buffer with dimensions WxH. Ryan, i fixed those problems but still having a problem. Here's the new code: DECLARE SUB INIT_Buffer(Array() AS UBYTE, ArrayPtr AS UBYTE, W, H) DIM SHARED VPage AS UBYTE PTR ...

need help with my auto-buffer sub

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong here: DIM SHARED VPage AS UBYTE PTR REDIM SHARED VPageArray(1 to 1) AS UBYTE INIT_Buffer VPageArray(1), VPage, 400, 300 SUB INIT_Buffer (Array() AS UBYTE , ArrayPtr AS UBYTE PTR, W, H) REDIM SHARED Array((W * H) + 4&...

I don't think it's my source. It's jerky because of random HD accesses Windows makes in the BG. It's smooth when the HD isn't being accessed.

great, that worked, but it didn't solve the issue unfortunately. The scrolling is still jerky. Maybe it's just my $%#@ computer.

damn, the windows include file conflicts with the allegro include with the BITMAP structure and other things. I might have to rename them all. Unless someone knows another way around this? I've looked into the windows include file and noticed there's probably many of those secondary include files th...
