Thanks Drv

I thought that Timer was in seconds with an accuracy of 1/18 sec.
I need a 1/18 sec counter.

By the way, Where is the best place for Library functions available ?
I dont seem to be able to find them anywhere.

1Ah or &h1A

Hi all Sorry to be posting so often, but I have a few slow days where I can resolve some issues in getting started in FB. The sample code I have seen on other threads show 1Ah format in in-line assembly. However when I compile the following code I get an error. FUNCTION DOSTIME& asm xor eax,eax ...

Many thanks for that. I will just have to do a check for any code that has ; + sequentially and then delete the ; as I prefer to keep using +. Next experiment is converting some of my Assembly code. Once again, thanks PS. I am keeping a file with all the differences that I find and the solutions, so...

v1ctor We both misinterpreted each other. The = sign was enclosed in quotes. LOCATE 3,20:PRINT "150=" + HEX$(Inportb(&H15F)) so that the final printed message is 150=123 So is it the conclusion is that I must remove all ";" from all print statements.? Regards

v1ctor I dont know if I am misinterpreting you. (I hope so) Then it's a bug in QB's parser, the unary + operator used with strings makes no sense - btw, that used to work in the preview versions fo FB, it was a bug, not a feature. Quote from pds7.1 help files. String Operators A string expression co...

This works with FB SUB SETPORT '---I/O Brd 4-----A---B---C-------------------------------8255 Image--------------- LOCATE 3,20:PRINT "150=" + HEX$(Inportb(&H15F)) LOCATE 4,20:PRINT " " + HEX$(Inportb(&H15E)) LOCATE 3,35:PRINT "170=&quo...

No problems compiling the original with pds7.1

I just think it is important that ALL the differences to Qb are identified.(at least to me)
Once I have identified all the differences, then there wont be any surprises when I compile a huge project.

Error with Hex$

Hi all This is the qb code to start with. Why does this create an error when compiling. LOCATE 3,20:PRINT "150="; + HEX$(Inportb(&H15F)); PortIO.BAS(196) : error 21: Type mismatch, found: ';' LOCATE 3,20:PRINT "150="; + HEX$(Inportb(&H15F)); So remove the ";" PortIO...

Hi all Downloaded the Dos version and corrected a path problem and it worked. One of the problems was that when you extract the zip file and nominate the Directory, ie:C:\FreeBasic, it then creates another FreeBasic directory. So you end up with C:\FreeBasic\FreeBasic\..... Many thanks, the first ob...

On the other hand it is easier to rename all my OUT and IN instructions then to make all of them in-line code.

Getting late in Eastern Oz now

Either way I will follow your advise.

Hi all Finally got some time to get back to this thread. Getting this to work is crucial to using FB. Wrote a small test program to test outportb and getting a linking error. Basically the program declares only one .bi file as suggested by DrV #include "C:\Program1\FreeBasic\inc\dos\pc.bi"...

Fake

Hi all Been looking for help on using the compiler. The Wiki site is pretty good for the language, but cant seem to find anything to help me with the following questions. 1. Filename.o:fake:(text+0x420) Where can i find explanations on how to analyze these messages. 2. A project with 15 basic module...

Hi all

Jofers, I was referring more to I/O boards that we use to drive output
relays on our machines. We manufacture these ourselves, so we have to make the "drivers".

Thanks Drv, that answers the question.
