FreeBASIC group on Facebook

Post by mvhemanth »

Hello friends,

I liked FreeBasic and FBEdit so much I created a Facebook group
as there wasn't one already.

Group address
https://www.facebook.com/groups/freebasic/

Some people have joined.
Please do join and help out newbies who may become FreeBASIC programmers in the future.

Regards
Hemanth

Meh. Facebook. Not a useful medium for technical discussion. But I also think forums suck. Every one of them. Honestly I find e-mail lists or an nntp list to the best medium for technical discussions. Sad to see them decline in favor of other mediums that just don't work as well. Thank goodness they turned on feeds on this forum. Makes it at least useable for me now.

But all power to you. I'm sure others will find it useful.

I am not a friend of Facebook, I do not use it. We have a good and friendly community here to discuss everything about FreeBasic, and this forum has no commercial interests to collect and store our private data, like Facebook.

No, it is not wrong. But I feel that there are many people here who will not join Facebook in principle, like me. But it's ok what you intend to do.

Thanks for the encouraging words sir...

only some 10 odd members in the new group now.
3 joined today.
Lets see how far it goes.

I have to be there to guide them here.
With all you experienced people here to guide the newcomers further
they will be hooked for sure :)

IMHO, facebook is really for friends sharing *stuff*. This forum is a much better format for sharing code. What I would like for Freebasic.net to have a set of web-open shared folders for holding sample code, screen shots, libraries, GUI, and IDEs and the like all in one site (for example rapidq.phatcode.net allows you to search for sample code, docs, etc.). But then maybe it does?

Having been stuck on yahoo groups for rapidq and its never ending spam, this forum is sooooo much better. I just don't see Facebook being able to do that.

just MHO.

Something like the german FreeBasic Portal? http://www.freebasic-portal.de/

Ja. Diese Seite sieht gut aus. Allerdings bin ich ein Deutsch dum Kopf. Google übersetzen Werke zwar gut.
Eines Tages wird es unter Freebasic Mitglieder freigegebene Ordner werden.

As people say, things that you can't find on facebook or ebay don't exist.
