[offtopic]What was at Jul 24, 2019 something special ?

Post by D.J.Peters »

So far I remember the most active day on this forum was at the beginning of FreeBASIC in 2005 !

May be I`m wrong but Jul 24, 2019 looks not right to me.

So you had a party here with 342 friends while we were are asleep?
Most likely, some created a bot that automatically created and logged in accounts (until it was detected).

~300 robots per day not bad !
Looks like FreeBASIC is more popular for machines as for humans ;-)

I was wrong. An account is not needed to be counted as user.
Currently 35 users online (5 registered, 0 hidden and 30 guests)
Registered are: me, Knatterton and 3 search engines.
Maybe some news site makes people search for 'free basic' and accidentally and up here, or some other key-word in a certain topic.
That or some Chinese companies are busy writing a phone OS in freebasic, who knows?

The number keeps going up. Number of registrations and posts normal however.
Where are all those guests suddenly coming from?

The internet has finally become sentient and is looking around for something to play with.

It seems like, according with Awstats, that the traffic is coming from China.

China is shown currently as the number 1 in the top 25 locations list. Historically, USA was always the first, followed by Russia and then France.

Has anybody narrowed it down to what particular thread the Chinese guests are looking at, or is it just this site in general.

"Most users ever online was 696 on 27 Aug 2019, 03:46"

At this rate, freeBASIC will be the most popular computer language soon.
