GenUX / Gentoo OS Installer...

Post by jcohen »

GenUX is releasing its Gentoo OS Installer for free and Open Source on the 1st day of Linux World Expo. It is completely written in FreeBasic and uses GTK+ toolkit. Since there is no real Freebasic GTK+ tutorial you can see almost every common GTK+ widget in use and see when its needed to be used as a pointer and when its not. The code is sloppy and will be improved but it should serve as a good starting point in resolving the chaotic world of GTK+ and FreeBasic I must admit it was hell coding it but well worth it since its much faster compared to its Gambas counter part (not ever going to be released).

Just an FYI and I hope the code could be useful to others.

Isn't there an official installer in the works right now? It's available in it's alpha stage currently on the gentoo website (You just need a liveCD w/ X to run it)

Hey, sounds cool. I might try it out if I feel like blowing away some partitions again. :)

Question about GenUX - is it already bundled on a liveCD?
