Re: Shrimp-freeware simple, but yet powerfull editor for freebasic and more...
Hi,
I downloaded and installed shrimp350100.zip, specified the location of fbc.exe and of the actual helpfile.
Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work.
When I open an *.bas file it is shown as plain-text, not interpreting (and coloring) the syntax.
Also the compile options are grayed out.
Probably I'm overlooking something

look by your self, i just download and test. If "shrimp" can not automatically detect the freebasic compiler, you must set by your self.Tipically he search for 32bit version in program files(x86) folder or how id named in your machine.Yo must set manually the compiler and help file.darwin4ever wrote:Hi,

I see that it works for you, but not for me.
As I wrote earlier, I specified the correct location of fbc.exe and help-file (and also tried restarting Shrimp)
As you can see the code is not interpreted (colored)

you must set that for syntax coloring. success.
btw. IS NO NEED TO RESTART SHRIMP IN ORDER TO GET CHANGES...ARE MADE IT ON THE FLY

I tried that :nastasa eodor wrote: you must set that for syntax coloring. success.

- syntax coloring available AFTER RESTART, not without restart
- BUT still Actions : Compile, Run a.s.o not available (grayed out)
I think that it would be better if the "Stock Highlighters" would be combined into "Settings"

future consideration of this, if not active code file is present, no compile available. if not compiled out file (*.exe) file no run available. alsodarwin4ever wrote:I tried that :nastasa eodor wrote: you must set that for syntax coloring. success.

that compiler is missing, void ones, all actions are grayed, so check that before...when you set compiler, please press the Ok button...

I don't know what's going on.nastasa eodor wrote: future consideration of this, if not active code file is present, no compile available. if not compiled out file (*.exe) file no run available. also
that compiler is missing, void ones, all actions are grayed, so check that before...when you set compiler, please press the Ok button...
1) Active code is present --> see earlier pictures (but was uncolored at that time)
2) Compiler is set correctly (ok button) and available (tried both 32/64) --> see earlier pictures
3) Same compiler locations work with other FB-editors

okay, then lets do it like this...reconsider downloading again the zip file, decompress and install it again, use c:\ drive if is possible...is very stange error...and you are the first one who claim it...darwin4ever wrote:I don't know what's going on.nastasa eodor wrote: future consideration of this, if not active code file is present, no compile available. if not compiled out file (*.exe) file no run available. also

Shrimp was updated. Go to his web site and download new version of exe and/or source code. Enjoy
