Finally solved then!
My latest file is called playvideobydll.bas, in fact the .exe has incorporated the static lib for the gfx screen, so it is misnamed but independent.
I have been looking around for a full movie free download to test it to destruction.
I wanted The Mayor of Casterbridge since I always liked watching a movie of a book I have read.
Casterbridge is actually Dorchester in the mind of Thomas Hardy.
But no luck getting a free one.

Yes and maybe with the lib way i may be able to capture and display the intermediate pics - will have to play around with your code but thanks for posting that as i had just about given up as just too many issues to resolve - lucky! persistence seems to always pay off :)

As for "The Mayor of Casterbridge" i see there is a torrent available for it but it's in AVI format. If interested let me know :)

.avi format works well, I have got hold of some small testers.
If you have a link then thank you, I'll give it a try.

Thanks xbgct.
Unfortunately mediafire has blocked these two files.
I'll just have to wait for the film to re-appear on the telly some day.

Thank you xbgtc.
I am going to set up my old XP computer to use .torrent files and download the film.
I am a bit wary of using Win 10 for this task

Yeh maybe wise just for the one download.

I'm using utorrent v3.1.3 (from WinXP days) and installing that on Win10 was a chore! But i got it going and you have to disable all these things else as you know these type of programs like to contact the internet for things like ads etc. but once you go through them and disable stuff they are ok :)
