FreeBASIC Online Documentation - Wiki

Post by anonymous1337 »

The FreeBASIC Manual and tutorials are available online at http://www.freebasic.net/wiki

Anyone is allowed to view the wiki, but editing requires a minimum post count and forum registration. This is designed to prevent abuse. See this page for information on editing the wiki.

FreeBASIC Manual - Contains all pages included in the downloadable manual.
Community Tutorials - Tutorials written by community members.
Community Code Library - Code snippets written by community members.
Programmer's Guide - A reference guide to programming in FreeBASIC.

Any major changes to the wiki should first be proposed on the forum and tested in the sandbox. The quality of the FreeBASIC manual is maintained through user contributions and feedback.

I am trying to login and post comment about corrections on the fbwiki

Why have they they jumbled up the Login and Register parts together on one page ?
Its so confusing and totally misleading

Kindly guide me

in this tutorial - example 1 - the final listing
I suggest this minor change. May make things clear to beginners

#include "fbgfx.bi"
Using FB ' This is to provide access to the SC_xxxx key values in the FB namespace
' without this, FB.SC_xxxx should be used.
' I assume SC may mean 'Scan Code'

Have you well filled the 4 fields (mandatory for first registration)?
(the first 2+1 fields identical to those used to login to forum)

Have you try to suppress all freebasic cookies before this first connection attempt?

Yes! But I get as answer "registration must be done via the forum!"
Have you try to suppress all freebasic cookies before this first connection attempt?
No

If the meaning of the 3rd question is: deleting them (cookies) out of the browsers
cache, before trying a: first time login/registering ... as per your description above.
WIKI-ANSWER: registering must be done via Forum[infinity-sign]

It only seems to work for "old" users, those who have registered a "long time ago".

I remember that I have deleted the browser's cache at a trial in October upon an advice in this forum (by D.J.Peters(?)), but this had no effect.

What I wanted to do: include FireFly as IDE (with GUI designer) and FLTK and window9 (GUI libs) into the documentation. Perhaps somebody else can do that?

Perhaps that limit of "good functionning" corresponds to the new freebasic website appeared at end of 2011.

@Admin
Can anything be done so that the non-elders do not feel wronged?

coderJeff has helpfully provided me with at way to add new users to the wiki.
I think it's probably simplest if people post here with requests, and I can set them up using the email address in their profile and send them a temporary password.

@counting_pine, it would be great, if you could 'finally' add myself.
I'm not intending, to rewrite the WIKI (but it'll be nice to write a comment, here and there).

I don't know whether you can dot that, but it would be great if the spam comments could be removed from the wiki. For example on this page:
http://www.freebasic.net/wiki/wikka.php ... comments=0
there are nearly 3000 comments, most (if not all) of them being spam.
(Note: it seems that these comments are only shown when one is logged in)

//edit: and this Page doesn't look okay either:
https://freebasic.net/wiki/wikka.php?wakka=AdminUsers

In general, the wiki software seems like it has or at least had some security issues.

MrSwiss, I've sent you an email.
I'll try and find time to look at the comments issue at some point.
