Missing in action.

Post by deltarho[1859] »

It is ten weeks today that dodicat posted here.

That is a long gap for the third-largest forum contributor, with an average of 1.22 posts per day.

I understand that a private message has been sent to dodicat but without a response.

If he is feeling a bit 'under the weather', I am confident that I speak for all of us by wishing him well.

I hope dodicat is well and I wish him all the best. His contributions to the forum are very inspiring, and some of them were very useful for me.

This thread was never intended to elicit a response. However I did expect a few would 'chip in' with a comment.

srvaldez was quick to comment. There was a bit of a gap before Lothar Schirm commented. There have been only a few views this third day since the opening post.

We now have just two comments in nearly three days with 156 views.

I find myself being a little disheartened.

I clashed with dodicat a few times, but on reflection that may say more about me than him.

dodicat is/was one of FreeBASIC's heroes. He joined the forum early on in January 2006 and has been a prolific contributor ever since with some classic graphics code. He ventured into many other aspects of coding, often peppered with humour and wit.

Who knows whether he will ever post again, and his code may become a legacy for as long as there is a FreeBASIC forum. “You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave” (Hotel California)

Thanks deltarho/Lothar/srvaldez.
I am still here, but only half.
My wife died on Sept 7 after an horrific but short illness. (a few weeks).
She was buried on Sept 18 in Stoneykirk Cemetery, a few hundred yards from our home.
Sorry I missed the first "Missing in action" post, I am a little bit lost these days, wandering around an empty house after 50 years of marriage.

I didn't see that coming.

I cannot imagine what you are going through.

My deepest sympathies are with you at this difficult time.

Take care dodicat.

My deepest condolences, it's always hard to lose a loved one. Keep your head up, life goes on.

I'm sure you'll meet her again some day.
