Did you try anything tricky with the reply topic line?
My notification email had a subject of:
"=?US-ASCII?Q?Reply in "Revamping the forum?"?="

Seems a bad or extra encoding happening where it is not needed.

I tried to edit a post with a wink but it did not turn into a smiley. Only new posts seem to support it.

I had the same thing, but I didn't change any subject line. This "=?US-ASCII?Q?" only appears in the notification email. The text at the forum notification bell seems ok.

Same for me.

Suggestion: "Unread posts" is hidden in the 3-lines menu. Could it become a separate button, like "New posts"?

I've reverted to a slightly older version of the email notifier that hopefully fixes the problem for now by always encoding as UTF8. I don't think that's quite correct, but looks like phpBB devs are working on this part of the software and looks like a fix is coming in the next minor update.

I changed the "New Posts" button to a "Unread Posts" button. I had the cache on my browser turned off, so not sure if you will need to clear cache to see the change.

The notification mail for your last post showed the subject line correctly.

Today I noticed that searching text like "va_first" doesn't work because the underscore is ignored:
Search found 0 matches: va_first
Searched query: +first

ignored: va
Is it possible to change this?

@Munair

I tried just va and the search code saw it as two common words!

Usually a google search which includes the word FreeBasic will work.

https://documentation.help/FreeBASIC/KeyPgVaFirst.html

This is the first time I have seen the va_first function.

vafirst worked with the forum search engine.

With Google, you can find 110 hits using site:freebasic.net "va_first" - i.e. restricted to this site, plus "string" in quotes.

Without the site restriction, you get more hits, and the first one points to the documentation. However, most of the rest aren't FB related.

With forum search, va_first or "va_first" won't work, but vafirst finds 14 matches, all related to URLs without the understroke.

Yes, one can do a lot with Google or other search engines out there, but then why bother having one built into the forum?

"vafirst" may catch some results, but certainly not code containing "va_first". It would be a great improvement if the search engine would recognize the underscore as a valid text character.

I fully agree: 10961 matches for WM_COMMAND, 99% irrelevant. In contrast, the SMF-powered Masm32 forum search finds only 30 posts, but 100% contain WM_COMMAND.

What about switching from phpBB to myBB?
