If the decision process is weak, everything else goes out of the window.
My conception of 'justice' is not targeting moderators, nor their decisional process.
How on earth can we expect justice with a weak decision process?

Nobody has come up with a reasonable objection to my proposal yet.

I am out of this thread now. I have put forward a proposal and do not want to get dragged into discussing ancillary issues.

What motivates me is justice. I do not believe that the current system gives us that.

Oh so we're being unfair/unjust now? Because we ban people who can't seem to abide to simple requests?

Justice is relative.

In one place, it requires real, measurable damage to a person.
Somewhere else, it may be simply not following the literal letter of a code/law documented in history.
Or simply a judgement by peers (that can be set aside by a magistrate.)

Equity - much better. At least you know what to expect.

The rule EVERYWHERE there are 'leaders' (politicians, military, moderators): listen to us, or suffer the consequences.
Either give, or deny, jj the intelligence to know that.

jj is not Albert or the other trolls. Each are different cases.

There was equity, here. He was clearly warned multiple times.

Everyone: give it up, already.

YES!
Because we ban people who can't seem to abide to simple requests?
NO!

Why did you say that? I haven't said that.

The reason is the method employed when it comes to permanent bans is “unfair/unjust”. It lends itself to a rogue moderator – my proposal mitigates that.

Excellent idea.

On the other hand, if someone has something constructive to contribute regarding the opening post, then please do so. So far in this thread, that would be a novelty.

Final note:

To my mind, when it comes to permanent bans, the current system lacks rigour. I believe my proposal is rigorous.

I, and no doubt, others will be getting fed up with these discussions, so I have decided to take a sabbatical for a month to allow this thread and the Observations thread to drift into the ether.

See you in April. :)

Your 'proposal' serves absolutely no purpose. This forum has been going on for about 16 years. It has always been moderated like this (much like every other forum on the planet). There hasn't been a single case of a 'rogue moderator' in all those years.

Not even once.

Indeed.

Sure. Take all the time you need.
