Facebook owns freebasic.com

Post by Plasma »

I was renewing the freebasic.net registration today and checked to see if freebasic.com was available. Apparently Facebook/Meta owns it. So I guess not lol.

Does that mean all subdomains are owned by Facebook meta? I am in charge of rapidq.phatcode.net, but that the website keeps going is a mystery to me. Also how to get https status on it.
Thanks johnk

Sorry for the confusion, yes I still own freebasic.net/phatcode.net so there is no problem there. I just found it amusing Facebook bought freebasic.com.

https is already supported on all accounts. For example: https://rapidq.phatcode.net/

If you would like a redirect from http to https, let me know and I can add that for you.

Well on the 'face' of it they seem to be doing some good:

'basic online services without data charges

In collaboration with mobile operators, Free Basics provides
access to communication tools, health information,
education resources and other low-bandwidth services.

Any mobile operator can participate, and Free Basics is
open to any developer whose service meets the program's
openly published technical criteria.'

http://www.freebasic.com
redirects to
https://www.facebook.com/connectivity/s ... ee-basics/

amusing....
https://www.freebasic.com
throws a 'Error code: SSL_ERROR_BAD_CERT_DOMAIN'
